Saracens Head

  Coronavirus Update - 31-07-2020

It has been great to see so many friends coming to have their first meal out since the middle of March.  So much excitement and a little anticipation at first, but we believe that although there have been changes people are soon relaxed and enjoying their visits back to the Saracens.

We will be taking a small part in the "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme that runs throughout August.  This scheme gives each diner a discount of 50% off their food and soft drink bill up to a maximum of £10 per person.  We will only be taking part on this on Wednesdays at both lunch and dinner, due to being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so please give us a call to book a table as soon as possible.

On our paddock just to the west of the Saracens we have set up a small pizza park.  Matt and Elleni are making the most delicious wood fired pizzas that are best enjoyed with a beer on the picnic tables looking out over the hugh Norfolk skyline.  They are cooking between 5.00 and 9.00pm Wednesdays to Sunday inclusive, weather permiting!!  There is no need to advance book and you should be prepared for a wait, but where better to enjoy the Norfolk sunset.  For more detail and the most up to date menu check their instagram account @pizzabythepark.

Please note that we do not serve pizzas in the Saracens!

There will be several changes to the running of the restaurant so as to comply with the Covid regulations and to keep both our customers and staff as safe as possible under the current situation.

We will only be able to accept advance bookings and for specific times, so please give us a call or drop an email with the date you would like and your prefered time.  We will be able to accept last minute bookings, but you will need to phone us to get a time for your booking.  The regulations state that clients must be taken directly to their table and their drinks and food orders will be taken and delivered to them, so sadly it will not be possible to wait at the bar.

We will be able to seat guests in either the Courtyard, part of which will be covered by a marquee or in the restaurant where there will be less table and more space between them.

The Restaurant will be open Wednesday to Sunday inclusive each week, which will leave it closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Click on the link to see full details Summer Opening 2020.

Our hotel rooms will be open from Wednesday 15 July and it is now possible to book them directly from this website by using the "Book Now" button on the main menu.  if you have any questions please let us know by either email or phone.  Provision will be made for those hotel guests that want to eat in on Monday and Tuesday evenings but we will need to know in advance.  The menu could less extensive than usual.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all again after this unwanted break, take care and keep well.

The Saracen’s Head is a Georgian Inn nestled in the heart of the North Norfolk countryside that prides itself on being true to the spirit of its 200-year history, the unique county that surrounds it and its owners, Tim and Janie Elwes, who have made it their vocation to provide a place to eat, drink and stay that is at once timeless, absolutely modern and thoroughly welcoming.

The Saracen’s Head is a hard place to find, hidden away in the lanes of the wild countryside. The middle of nowhere, it would seem to be. But looking a little closer you will find that it is in the centre of everywhere!

North Norfolk has so much to offer and is attractive to people from so many different walks of life. Whether you are looking for somewhere to base yourself whilst discovering this part of East Anglia or just want to play golf at several courses without moving hotel each day then we could well be the ideal choice for you. We’re surrounded by Country Mansions and National Trust properties, there are beaches of every description within 35 minutes drive and when it comes to bird watching then you are spoilt for choice. All these and many more things can be enjoyed whilst you are in Norfolk, read more about our surroundings on the Around page.

Where we come into our own is to provide that wonderfully relaxed home from home where you can return after your day and unwind with a drink and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by our chef, using the best local produce. Definitely, something to look forward to.

Well, here in the middle of nowhere you are in the centre of everywhere, so do read on and discover more about the Saracens and about North Norfolk.
